Frequently Asked Questions

    • How do I keep my video from flashing every time I change ports on my DVI KVM switch?

      • If you purchased a UD-12+ or UD-14+ after February of 2011, then you should have the ability to reconfigure the way DVI is triggered on a particular port. First, you must switch to the port which is giving you the problem. Once on that port, press and hold that port button on the front of the switch, for about 3 seconds, then release. You should hear a series of 2 or 3 beeps. If you hear 2 beeps, then you’ve changed it from the default and you should now try switching back and forth to see if that has made a difference.

    • What is the hot-key combination for switching ports?

      • On our USB KVM switches with DDM, the hot-key by default is set to Ctrl. This can be changed to other available options with the Hot-Key Select button on the front of the switch. The command sequence for all of them is [hotkey] [hotkey] [#]. All three are tapped consecutively (not simultaneously), with [hotkey] being for example, the Ctrl key and [#] being the number of the port you are switching to.

    • Can I cascade multiple KVM Switches?

      • The USB KVM switches cannot be cascaded.

    • How can I connect my USB KVM switch to a computer that has PS/2 keyboard and mouse ports?

      • As long as the computer has available USB ports, you can use those instead of the PS/2 ports.

    • What if I want to use a wireless keyboard/mouse combo with the KVM switch?

      • That should not be a problem. Make sure that the keyboard and mouse function on all computers when directly connected, then try connecting through the KVM switch.

  • What can I do if I’ve hooked everything up, and although the video works, I get no keyboard and mouse functionality on any of the connected computers?

    • Here are some steps to go through if your KVM switch has lost keyboard and mouse functionality:
      1. Disconnect the power and all cables and connections from the switch. There should be no lights illuminated on the KVM. Let it sit for about 1 minutes.
      2. Reconnect the Power adapter to the KVM, followed by the Keyboard, Mouse, and monitor.
      3. After those console connections are attached, connect one of your computers back to Port 1 of the KVM.
      4. Make sure the keyboard and mouse are working on that computer, then connect the second computer.
      5. At this point, the KVM has been completely reset, and it should be back in operable condition.
